Meet the woman behind the label

Jureska Estachia

Founder & Creative Director

My love for fashion & design

From a very young age, I had a passion for styling & design. During this early age of my life, my granddad taught me how to draw and my mother taught me the ins-and-outs of sewing.  Thanks to this foundation I was convinced between the age of 16 and 18 that fashion and designing will be my definite career path. I had a clear vision in mind; I wanted to run my own fashion label and that my designs would make women feel beautiful and confident. Not only that, but I also wanted to unlock greatness out of them.

The Journey of DonnaYara

After gaining lots of experience in the fashion industry and while finishing fashion management at TMO ( EFBS/European Fashion Business School) March 2013 I decided to start my own line. I was searching for a unique name with a special meaning, personality and catchy. My niece was born on October 20th, and they named her Donna Yara Emma. So at that same moment I said to my brother: “that’s going to be my brand name”.

Meaning of DonnaYara

The root meaning of the word yara is “to flow” and is related to words meaning rain or stream as a flowing of water.

My love for leather

The orginal plan was to create a ready to wear collection. But after visiting Italy I fell in love with everything about leather, especially organic leather. I designed and handcrafted a beautiful doctor bag for my mother’s birthday and placed it on facebook. Because of lots of positive reactions I decided to start a sustainable handmade leather handbag line instead.

As a believer, and business woman I know deep inside that I want to make a path and leave a mark for the next generation. I aim to leave them something that may inspire them so that they will know that we are all born for greatness and capable to start from scratch and reach the highest skies if we just believe that everything is possible.
